19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev won his initial trophy for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult year, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's initial trophy after the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface since March of that year.

The win also indicates he has won twenty-one victories at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my children simultaneously, so to secure a championship is particularly special," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.

The player's retrieving approach and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his capacity to play at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the player has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play assertively, reinforced by an better serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the final five games to go ahead.

The pair exchanged break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour victory, took control to push for a decider.

Moutet saved 4 initial break points in a tight final set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner clinched victory with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
